Better Is One Day/I Can Only Imagine medley – Matt Redman/Mercy Me

We have started back with the Pre-Service music, at the suggestion from our Pastor. It’s humorous, though, because our church really is confused by it still. Some people just look up at the stage with this bewildered look on their face, that screams, “What do we do now?” LOL! But we’re convinced that the more we do this instead of playing a CD before the service, the more people will get what it is… enhanced background music. Do you play Pre-Service music? If so, how does your church respond to it?

My favorite song of the set this week was the Better Is One Day/I Can Only Imagine medley! We played Better Is One Day through the bridge, then one more time through the chorus, and then our pianist started that unmistakable piano ‘lead in’ from I Can Only Imagine while the drummer kept the same beat and tempo from Better Is One Day. We started right into the chorus of I Can Only Imagine… “Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel? Will I dance for You Jesus, or in awe of You be still?” We sang the chorus through two times, and then went right back into the last part of Better Is One Day… “better is one day, better is one day, better is one day, than thousands elsewhere”. Then we brought it way down and ended quietly, and worshipfully on the chorus! It flowed really well, and our church worshiped to it in a powerful way.

What did your church sing on Sunday? Please leave a comment below and let us know! :)

Blessings!

There are a lot of great and exciting things happening at our church right now. And our set-list this morning reflected our excitement, as a worship team! It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced anything close to a revival in church, and I can honestly tell you that it feels like Daybreak is on the threshold of that very thing! Praise God!

New ministries are cropping up! A cosmetic overhaul has begun on our property, and our Worship Center was HOPPING today!!

So what happened at YOUR church??? Please comment below and tell me! I’d love to hear about it! And please be sure to head over to The Worship Community and check out what a lot of other churches did this morning!

Blessings!

-Revive Us Again - (Choir)

-How Great Is Our God/How Great Thou Art – Tomlin

-Come Thou Fount/It Is Well/Old Rugged Cross/Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Hymn Medley

-Made Me Glad – Hillsong

I am so blessed by what I saw God do in our church today! We had an amazing morning of worship, prayer, and healing at Daybreak.

We brought back some hymns that we haven’t done in a few months, and the church responded in an amazing way! And Made Me Glad is probably my favorite Worship Song right now. It says everything my heart wants to say when I’m singing to the Lord.

I hope you had an amazing time worshiping the Lord this morning! Thank you for stopping by to see what we did. Now, if you would, please go over to The Worship Community and check out what other worship leaders from around the world did at their churches today!

This needs to be said…

Something has really been bothering me about the church, in general. I’ve been toiling over it, and praying over it. I’ve been searching myself and asking the hard questions.

I want to ask you something.

Why do we, as Christians, need everyone around us to think that we’re ok, when we’re really not? Seriously, why? We have the same trials as the rest of the world. We argue with our spouses. We lose our loved ones. We have our feelings hurt by co-workers. We’re abandoned and abused by our parents. We suffer through private porn addictions, and drug and alcohol addictions. We have serious, life-threatening diagnosis’ given to us at the Dr.’s office. We’re fired from our jobs, suffer through house fires, and we’re burglarized and stolen from. Yet, we’ll smile and say, “God is good!” when someone asks us how we’re doing in the foyer on Sunday morning. Why can we be dying on the inside, but not want anyone to know?

This is a tragedy in the church at-large.

If we could talk with God, face-to-face right now and ask Him, “what is the one thing we need to change about church that would make the biggest impact on this world? I really believe it would be this. He can’t do anything with people who aren’t willing to be real with themselves, with Him, or with each other. Period.

What happened? When did church become so “sterile”? It’s nothing short of a giant “clean room” where you have to put on a happy face, and nice clothes, and keep everything squeaky clean. It’s rare to see anyone confess their weakness, or be transparent enough to put their junk out there to be dealt with. You rarely see people break down and weep, or show anger, or frustration.

I am as guilty as the next person. Why is it so hard to be transparent? More importantly, why don’t we feel comfortable to be transparent in church?

This has to change. If we can’t be real with other Christians, who can we be real with? I read an excerpt off of the website of Anne Jackson’s upcoming new book, “Permission To Speak Freely” that read, “We have to confess to God, and to others so that we can live our lives whole, and healed. We have to identify our brokenness, and ultimately share our story of redemption and rescue with others.”

What is it that you’re carrying around all alone? Isn’t it time to stop posing and pretending that you’re fine. Isn’t it time that we start sharing our burdens, and carrying each other’s burdens, as well?

Am I the only one who feels this way? Please comment below.

Sunday Set List – 1/3/10

Daybreak Baptist Church 01/03/10

Everlasting God – Brewster

The Lord Reigns – Gateway

Indescribable – Tomlin

Here I Am To Worship – Hillsong

Healer – Hillsong

We’re still really challenged by the lack of some key instrumentalists in our band, but our service was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit today. A big thanks to Joseph Hampton who sat in on drums at the last second!

The whole set flowed very well, I thought. The church was bouncing with the tempo of the first two songs, and really joyous. It was fun. But once we got to “Here I Am To Worship” I could sense the congregation was really worshiping. And “Healer” was an absolute heart-cleansing experience for me this time. Great way to start out the new year!

Thanks for stopping by! And come join us over at The Worship Community to check out many more Set-lists from around the world!

I was so glad to get back to our normal set. Christmas music is fun once a year, but like I mentioned in my last post, it gets really old after a solid month of it! Today’s set-list was awesome! We’re still down a drummer and an electric guitarist, so I played drums on the first four songs, and then I broke off and sang some harmony behind LeAnn on Grace Flows Down. And I must say, my wife absolutely NAILED that song! I’m not biased either! Nailed it!

Thanks for stopping by to check out our set-list! Now go right over to FredMckinnon.com and check out what churches all over the world did this morning!

Sunday Set List – 12/20/09

CHOIR – Hark The Herald Angels Sing/Angels We Have Heard On High

What Child Is This

The First Noel

When I Speak Your Name

Our church, as you can see, is in the full swing of Christmas. However, I must admit that I am glad this Sunday was the last of the Christmas carols. I love Christmas, don’t get me wrong. But a full month of those start to grate on me by the end of December.

We lost our electric guitarist and our drummer, a brother and sister who moved out of town. So I am back to multi-tasking between leading worship with LeAnn and playing drums on the songs we just can’t do without them… which will be most songs! If I may, I would like to ask for your prayers about this. Please pray for God to fill our needs in the band.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Blessings from the Thomas/Daybreak family!

Today, we did our first Christmas music of the season. It was awesome! The worship center was all decorated, and it was a good kick-off to the Christmas season for our church. Having said that, LeAnn has a broken tooth and was in major pain through the whole thing. Poor wifey! But overall, it was a great morning of worship!

After you have commented below ;) …  Please go and check out the worldwide worship recaps over at FredMcKinnon.com!
