Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Invitation/Altar call

I stepped away from blogging over the last couple of months.  Summer time-Family time-Down time. But I’m excited to be back in my blogging chair!

I was very pleased with our worship service on Sunday. As you can see, we had a Lincoln Brewster kick-off to the morning. And even though we were without our drummer, those songs provided great energy and some awesome praise to the King!

The song “Pure”, by Gateway is one of my favorites. And LeAnn always sings the Kari Jobe stuff that we do so beautifully! This one is a staple in our rotation, and it was a great moment of worship on Sunday.

I run to You when my heart is weak
I cling to You, You’re all I seek
It’s my heart’s desire to be close to You
Here in Your arms I find my strength

And Hiding Place, by Jared Anderson was a sweet, closing moment to our worship time. God is our hiding place. I love Psalm 46: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Dictionary.com says that ‘refuge’ means – shelter or protection from danger, trouble. It’s so vitally important for us all to realize how real, and how tangible our ‘hiding place’ or our ‘refuge’ is in the Lord. And I love how the chorus of this song stayed in theme with the chorus of ‘Pure’.

I will run to the hiding place
I will run to the hiding place
Draw me ever closer to look upon Your face
I will run to the hiding place

I hope you had an intimate time of worshiping our Lord and Savior during your worship service. Would you comment below, and share any special moments you had in your church service, or with the Lord in general this week?

Our Easter service was A-MA-ZING!

This was our first time singing My Savior Lives, and it was HIGH ENERGY! I loved that song! And we combined Worthy Is The Lamb and Rev Song into a power medley that sent our church into a deep attitude of worship. I was so touched by the whole service. Everything went perfectly. Praise God!

Our Pastor’s message was also amazing! We are so blessed to have such wise and dynamic teaching every Sunday.

Please comment below and tell me what you did at your church this Easter Sunday morning. And be sure to also visit The Worship Community to check out what other churches and worship leaders did, as well!

Happy Easter, everyone!

So we finished our set at Daybreak at 10:30am, ran out to my truck, then jammed across town to be on-stage at First Pres. before the 11am start time of their service! LOL! It was pretty crazy! But I’ll tell you this, God was glorified in both of those services! That was the most fun I’ve had in a while! It was stressful as heck for me, personally, but it was a blast watching my wife, because she is so gifted for this stuff! So I should say, I was a stress ball who was having a blast!

What did you guys do at your church on Sunday? Please comment below! Then head over to The Worship Community to see what a lot of other churches did for their worship services!

We brought back some hymns that we haven’t done in a few months, and the church responded in an amazing way! And Made Me Glad is probably my favorite Worship Song right now. It says everything my heart wants to say when I’m singing to the Lord.

I hope you had an amazing time worshiping the Lord this morning! Thank you for stopping by to see what we did. Now, if you would, please go over to The Worship Community and check out what other worship leaders from around the world did at their churches today!

Today, we did our first Christmas music of the season. It was awesome! The worship center was all decorated, and it was a good kick-off to the Christmas season for our church. Having said that, LeAnn has a broken tooth and was in major pain through the whole thing. Poor wifey! But overall, it was a great morning of worship!

After you have commented below 😉 …  Please go and check out the worldwide worship recaps over at FredMcKinnon.com!

I’m trying to get back into the habit of doing this after taking some time off. So, here we go:

Sunday was more worshipful than I remember our set being in quite a while. And this week was a real challenge in the rehearsal department. We had several key people who were unable to make it to rehearsal, with good reasons, so we moved it to early Sunday morning before our services. It was a little nerve-racking, but it worked out fine, and I found that in the end the Lord had His way with it all!

Here is our setlist:

Everlasting God Lincoln Brewster

Blessed Hillsong

How Great Is Our God Chris Tomlin

There Is A Savior Sandi Patti (Special Music Solo)

Made Me Glad Hillsong

I’ll be honest, I was worried about the Sandi Patti song right in the middle of the set, but it worked! Our soloist sang it beautifully, and the whole thing flowed very nicely!

As always, this has been blogged in conjunction with the Sunday Setlist Blog Carnival over at FredMcKinnon.com. I can’t tell you how invaluable this network of worship leaders has been to my wife, LeAnn and I! If you’re a worship leader, I highly recommend that you jump in to this online movement!

And please leave your comments!

Blessings!

C – The Lord Reigns – Gateway Worship

G – Hallelujah, Your Love Is Amazing – Phillips Craig and Dean

E – Here I Am To Worship – Hillsong

B – Oceans Will Part – Hillsong

F – Come Just As You Are – Crystal Lewis – (Invitation)

C – Just As I Am – Paul Baloche – (Invitation)

Today was AWESOME! “The Lord Reigns” is a GREAT opening song! I strongly recommend it! I led worship for this song. It’s so upbeat and has such a great tempo that the crowd really gets up and into it! There was a lot of clapping and shouts of praise … great energy! Then the classic from Phillips Craig and Dean, “Hallelujah, Your Love Is Amazing”. I led this on guitar today, and I thought it sounded fine. It’s not my absolute favorite song, but our church really responds to it. Then we did “Here I Am To Worship” the Hillsong version. I led this one on guitar, as well, and it was very worshipful. I loved how it turned out. We finished up the set with Hillsong’s “Oceans Will Part”. Very smooth and worshipful. LeAnn led it beautifully! And our worship team did a great job on all their parts. Sounded very nice.

We had a better response to the Invitation time today too. It’s always such a blessing to see people responding to the Holy Spirit like that!

Our worship service went to another level this morning. It was absolutely the most worshipful service I have ever experienced at this church! Praise God! And it was mostly contemporary music, with the exception of the Invitation! That is amazing!

What did God do at your church today?

Tell The World Tuesday

Does your Worship Ministry have an outreach team?

Since I have been at DBC, we have done some community outreach in various ministries throughout the church. Our Youth Ministry (The Grove) has gone door-to-door handing out flyers and inviting those who live close by to attend our church. Our Seniors Ministry and several of our Sunday School classes have all, at one level or another, made similar outreach efforts. Which has led me to ask the question, why not our Worship Team?

I’m so thankful that the Lord has put this renewed energy in me to reach the lost. It has birthed ideas in me that I know could both reach and change my community. I won’t claim that the ideas are radically original or anything like that, but they could be very effective to reach hurting people.

One of the ideas I am working on is putting a team together to go downtown to the homeless shelter once a month to bring food, bibles, and smiling faces to embrace those who are in need. I even thought I would bring my guitar down with me and we could have some worship time with these folks.

Another idea is to plan a worship concert in a local park. There are several big, sprawling parks in our area. A couple even have stages with power connections and everything! The possibilites with an event like that are awesome to think about! We could even have other ministries join the effort and make it a joint outreach by handing out flyers, serving desserts, hosting games for kids, etc.

My wife and I have been planning a big recruiting push for our Worship Team for the beginning of this year at DBC. But I love how the Lord is redirecting this thing in my mind to be outreach to the lost FIRST. Like I said, I’m just really thankful that God has opened my eyes again to His call on my life… to reach His sheep. And I’m seeing all kinds of possibilities open up in front of me to do that very thing. Praise His Mighty Name!

Those are my thoughts on this, Tell The World Tuesday. What are yours?

For His kingdom,

Wayne Thomas
