Everlasting God

New Doxology

Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone/Amazing Love – medley

(Invitation) – Just As I Am

———————————

It has been SO LONG since I have blogged! I feel ashamed! LOL! Long story short, I lost my sweet Mom a week and a half ago and my family went on a long journey for the funeral. We drove from Bakersfield, CA to Atlanta, GA and BACK! It was quite a journey with kids in the car. It’s such a blessing to my heart to imagine my Mom hugging Jesus and my grandmothers who went before her. It’s a real celebration when you’re a believer, to have a “saved” loved one go home to be with the Lord.

My wife LeAnn was off at the women’s retreat this weekend, with most of our vocalists along with her! But we had enough people left behind to put a team together, and it was a very worshipful morning!

I’ll keep this short and sweet this week. But I’ll get back into the full swing of things next week. I promise!

C – The Lord Reigns – Gateway Worship

G – Hallelujah, Your Love Is Amazing – Phillips Craig and Dean

E – Here I Am To Worship – Hillsong

B – Oceans Will Part – Hillsong

F – Come Just As You Are – Crystal Lewis – (Invitation)

C – Just As I Am – Paul Baloche – (Invitation)

Today was AWESOME! “The Lord Reigns” is a GREAT opening song! I strongly recommend it! I led worship for this song. It’s so upbeat and has such a great tempo that the crowd really gets up and into it! There was a lot of clapping and shouts of praise … great energy! Then the classic from Phillips Craig and Dean, “Hallelujah, Your Love Is Amazing”. I led this on guitar today, and I thought it sounded fine. It’s not my absolute favorite song, but our church really responds to it. Then we did “Here I Am To Worship” the Hillsong version. I led this one on guitar, as well, and it was very worshipful. I loved how it turned out. We finished up the set with Hillsong’s “Oceans Will Part”. Very smooth and worshipful. LeAnn led it beautifully! And our worship team did a great job on all their parts. Sounded very nice.

We had a better response to the Invitation time today too. It’s always such a blessing to see people responding to the Holy Spirit like that!

I had to work at my “other” job today. I really can’t stand working my other job on Sundays. Grr! But my wife and I tag team the worship leading, so if I’m unable to be there, she and the rest of the team roll with it! I’m so blessed by all of them! They all do a terrific job!

For more details on the worship service today, please check out LeAnn’s Blog!

Blessings!

We had a really smooth set today… no big mistakes, smooth, fluid sound. You have to love it when that happens! The worship took a noticeably deeper turn after the Pastor made an altar call right in the middle of the set.  And by the time we got to No Sweeter Name there was a sweet spirit of worship in our auditorium. Our church is in love with that song now. It gives us a good feeling too. It seems like yesterday when we introduced them to it. I love it when a plan comes together!

It was another great morning of worship at DBC! And I’m so blessed by that and so thankful for it! To God be all glory and honor and power, forever! Amen!

What did your church do this morning?? Comment below!

Greetings!

Today, our drummer was out sick, so I played drums for the opening song, “Trading My Sorrows”. It was great! It really got our church up and praising the goodness of God. After that, I dropped the sticks and we went without drums the rest of the way.”New Doxology” was very strong. It’s one of those songs for our church that everyone knows now, and they can all worship with it without having to read the words on the screens. Big-time, go-to song for us! Then the “Heaven’s Song” medley was awesome! Very worshipful! The verse in that chorus, “Holy, Holy, You alone are worthy” really helps me to lay everything down in my heart and mind at that moment and just approach the throne! He truly is the ONLY One Who is holy and worthy! Praise His holy Name!

I must confess, I had no idea how to sing Holy Ground before the service started! LOL! I grew up attending more contemporary-styled churches and hadn’t been exposed to a lot of the older choruses and hymns until pretty recently. But it turned out to be very easy and the medley went very well. And then my lovely wife sang “We Cry Out”, by Kari Jobe and Gateway Worship. Three words for you …

A — MAZ — ING! That’s three words, right?? LOL! But seriously, “We Cry Out”, as sung by LeAnn, was just so beatiful! Our worship team did a wonderful job with all of the harmony in the song. Kudos to all of them! All in all, it was a wonderful morning of worship.

LeAnn and I are continuing to try to practice up with the video camera to start trying our hands with the video worship confessionals. But I’m afraid I’m a slow learner when it comes to the Pinnacle video editing software! Uggh! Maybe someday soon we’ll be able to start posting some videos… someday. Haha!

Well that’s about all! Hope you all had a tremendous morning worshiping our Lord and Savior!

For Him,

Wayne

I was in Atlanta all week, so I didn’t get to rehearse with the group. Regardless, the Lord had His way and none of us missed a beat! I thought our set was awesome! The Lord Reigns was everything we hoped it would be! Our church responded so well to it! I know that it will be one of those songs that we call on many times in the future.  We hadn’t done Mighty To Save in a couple of months. And because our church knows it so well and because our opener was brand new, I thought it was the perfect song to follow it. We arranged Hosanna, Amazing Love, and Amazed into a really worshipful medley, which rounded out our set for the morning.

——————————————-

Greetings! We were really blessed yesterday at Daybreak! It’s missions month at our church, so we had some guest speakers. A married couple who are local missionaries in the Los Angeles area spoke first. They were inspiring and offered thought-provoking encouragement to take action and reach out to the world around us. After that, we had a real treat! Dr. Fermin Whittaker, Executive Director of the California Southern Baptist Convention, gave the sermon! Many of you subscribe to his son’s blog, Ragamuffin Soul (Los). Dr. Whittaker is a man of unique wisdom, who has a cunning ability to hear the voice of God. Whenever he comes to our church he brings a whole host of ministering angels with him! His smile and charisma are refreshing, and he cuts right to the chase in presenting the Word of God to our congregation. We love him dearly at Daybreak.

Our worship set went really well, despite the fact that our drummer over-slept. Everlasting God and Holy Is The Lord are strong selections in our church. We had a drums-only section planned for Holy Is The Lord, so during the greeting I slipped over behind the drums and then played for that song. There were lots of hands clapping and great energy during our first set!

I had a medley idea last week with the songs You Are Good (Gateway) and Breathe (Passion). I absolutely LOVED how it turned out! VERY worshipful and flowed very nicely! My only 2nd thought is that we didn’t stay on Breathe long enough! Next time we do it I’ll tweak that, but it was awesome!

Be blessed in your worship planning, my fellow WL’s! I pray you have the ears to hear His voice this week.

For His Glory!

Wayne

This was our first Sunday using walk in music. It was really cool! Normally we have a CD playing, but I love the energy this created in the room as people came in. Very cool.

Today was a very emotional day at Daybreak. A group of kids in our Youth group got into some trouble over the weekend, and today was a day of repentence and tears with a lot of folks down at the altar. It was precious to watch the Holy Spirit healing hearts and minds right before our eyes. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

What did your church do today?

In His grip,

Wayne
